The latest World of Warcraft expansion: Wrath of the Lich king introduced the new continent of Northrend to us. This northen isle where battles between good and evil once again have arisen and both Horde and Alliance adventurers are on their way to defeat the great Lich King. In the middle of war and destruction there’s a small area of haven, the neutral airborn city of Dalaran.

Dalaran is a city that has a long story. The current modern city of Dalaran is a center of magic constructed from ruins of the old city that were demolished  by Prince Arthas togheter with the Lich Lord Kel’Thuzad during the Third War. The city’s thousands of citizens were totally annihilated and the city was cleansed to prepare for Archimonde to be summoned using the city’s magic.

For long Dalaran remained just ruins until a council of powerful wizards called The Kirin Tor came back to the city to restore the city. Their beloved city was quickly rebuilt and encased it in a bubble that distorts time and space to make it impenetrable to any further attack.

Dalaran in the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion:
When the insane Malygos decided to annihilate all mortal users of magic, the Dalaran wizards of Kirin Tor under the leadership of Rhonin hastily decided to protect the city by levitating it to the north of Dragonblight in Crystalsong Forest, Northrend.

With persuasions from Jaina, the differences between Horde and Alliance are set aside in order to use Dalaran as a major strong hold for assaults on the Nexus as well as the Icecrown itself.

To reach Dalaran, one can still travel by foot by using a teleport crystal or get a ride with a mage who have learned the portal spell to Dalaran. Specific areas in the city can only be accessed by either Horde or Alliance players. For example, Alliance players are not allowed into the Horde's Sunreaver's Sanctuary, while Horde players cannot enter the Alliance's Silver Enclave.

There are a lot of things to do and see in the new Dalaran city, such as instances, portals to other cities, and trainers and battle masters for those who wish to be trained while there. While you’re there be sure to experience the beauty of the peaceful city of Dalaran. It will be a good break from all the wars occurring in Northrend and a good hs point to rest, trade in ah, restock your supplies and start out on new quests from.
